A Lil Snippet...

Just like her Grandma, she has developed an affinity for craft and art. For her age, her grandma has given much trust by allowing her to use scissors to cut paper, albeit only under adult supervision. Today however, she has decided to become independent, and use the scissors herself. In the few minutes she was left to herself, she found a scissors, cut up some temporary tattoos (they come in sheets where you cut the design you want and stick it on) all through the designs so none could be salvaged, and after that decided she needed a haircut. She cut a bit, not too much to be noticed yet not that little to throw me into a state of horror. She doesn't understand what it all means yet i suppose so she's her usual self now, despite the scolding and a ban on all scissors usage, with or without supervision. Let's hope Grandma follows through with that...

I want to be a clown Please?

It's funny how she is so polite at such a young age, although surrounded by adults, who, as most people, forget their manners. I for one, do forget my Ps and Qs.
It is more amazing that she has this fascination for Clowns when she had traumatic experiences with clowns as a baby. She was dreadly terrified by them, but I suppose, God-given strength helped her overcome...
Now the thing is always wanting to put on clown make up and wearing a hat and silly baggy pants and parading as a clown... But she is adorable in it!
there are two separate occasions so you'll notice although the pants are the same, the hat and make up aren't... There will be more to come... :)

gee whiz, techie gurl!

in case you have been wondering, how is it it takes forever to put up an entry, it's because my daughter has understood what a computer does, and she is ever eager to use it.
since then, she has had many visits to her favourites/bookmarks like starfall.com where she can play the gingerbread man, the pumpkin and other stories. the other place of course is the wiggles page. her motor skills are so good though, and her attention and concentration surpass others her age. so she climbs onto whoever's lap is on the computer chair, takes hold of the mouse, and clicks on the favourites/bookmarks (depending on which browser the person is using). then she selects her site and clicks. then the rest of the time is hers. oh and you happen to nudge or message me or my brother via msn, guess who answers? hehehe... yup. she'll type gibberish and then press enter. hi tech babe that's for sure!

Terrible 2!

well i've no past experience to compare, but i hardly think terrible two is all it's hyped out to be. i mean there are times when i want to lock myself and scream in frustration, but it's not an everyday occurrence.
yesterday she broke my mom's coffee pot. well at times it's silly, and frustrating. but things like these will happen. i realize that now.
apart from that, i feel she is so extremely observant, i worry sometimes. i keep checking myself so as not to impart bad habits and behaviour to her. she can manouvre her way around the Wiggles website, as it has been bookmarked for her. able to distinguish real from fake, serious and fun.
it seems to me that her disobedience stems from two things. firstly, she wants to test my authority, and willingness to give in. to see if i will hold on to my stand. secondly, she wants emphasize that she too, has desires and wants. sometimes we compromise and plan things together. but sometimes, she needs discipline.
Mother's day came and went. i got a bottle from her (which Grandma helped her make), and also a photo frame (also Grandma's handiwork). it's through this Mother's day that i realize it may not be easy being a mother, but it's worth every day of my life.

this was a silly lullaby (the second stanza just added today, while feeding her... :P) that i have been singing to Vanora ever since she was a month or two... now she calls it the Mommy Sweetheart Song. and now that the song got expanded, she specifies which stanza she wants... sleep now, or eat food... :)

the fall.

After a long week, the smile was comforting.

Tuesday (28th February 2006) I got a call from Grandma, but since was at clinic, it was missed. Later I decided it might be important, seeing as Grandma for sure knew it was class time. I called her, and she sounded weird.

"Vanny had a fall from the sofa. She hit her head, and it looks quite deep. I'm at the clinic now. They don't have the facilities to stitch it so i'm taking her to Assunta Hospital now."

I'm not sure if I sat because the words were so heavy, or that my legs just felt wobbly from the news. I tried to be strong, and sound professional, but being away, not able to assess the situation myself, all i could do was ask some questions and make the conversation as short as possible. because i needed to think. and pray. It disturbed me throughout the day, and a million possible complications runned through my head. but the fact that she was crying her lungs out and able to answer the doctor's questions ruled out any neurological deficits. that gave some relief.

She received ten sutures for a lacerated wound on the forehead 3 cm long, and quite deep, however the bone was not exposed (that is good news of course). According to Grandpa, she was quite well behaved and did listen to the doctor. she earned an ice cream, but was fast asleep by the time it was over. the dressing was big and scary, though.

Saturday we went to visit Grandma at camp. she was so happy seeing so many people there, and of course since there was a Vanny's standard knee-high stream nearby. although the current was strong and the water cold, she didn't mind one bit. later, she had a cold bath camping style. but by nightfall, all she wanted was home. so we packed up and went home.

Next day we had breakfast with Godma, eating dim sum. she was fine as usual and Godma just pampered her incessantly. Vanora received a belated birthday gift, a beautiful dress, from Godma Debbie, Aunty Rachel, and Uncle Terence.

Monday she took out the sutures and there were no problems, says Grandpa. she was supposed to remove her dressing on Thursday, but she took it in her own hands and removed it on wednesday instead. but all was well and the wound was clean and healing well.
i'm glad the whole ordeal was over tho. sigh...
